The Additional Services You May Not Realise Are On Offer At Your Local Tyre Shop

About Me
Tyres and Wheels

Hello, my name is Tony. This is my latest blog about tyres and wheels. I live about an auto repair shop which means I have learnt a thing or two about the best kind of wheels and tyres for any car. Because I don't have a job at the moment, I will often spend time down there helping the guys out with whatever repairs they are doing. I have become a sort of amateur expert in quickly changing a tyre and have even helped out some of my friends. I decided to start this blog to pass on everything I know about wheels and tyres.

The Additional Services You May Not Realise Are On Offer At Your Local Tyre Shop

Tyres are an exceptionally important part of any car but they are also the component that needs replacing and servicing the most. Not surprisingly, many tyre shops have cropped up to cater to the needs of car and motorbike owners who constantly need new tyres. However, a tyre shop does not just exist to sell and install tyres and there are many services that they offer that could come in handy. Often these services can be cheaper at a tyre shop than at a dedicated mechanic so it pays to make sure you check if your local one offers them.

Wheel Alignment

Many cars are currently driving around with their wheels slightly out of alignment. This can happen due to natural wear and tear through normal use of the car but it does mean that your tyres wear out quicker and it can become a hazard if not addressed. Getting your tyres realigned at a tyre shop can also save you money on fuel as a smoother ride makes for a more efficient engine. If you feel your car veering slightly while driving straight then get yourself to a nearby tyre shop and make sure your tyres are on properly.

Battery Tests

A car's battery is so important for many of the systems within a car. If your battery fails and a replacement fails soon after then this could be a sign that something is wrong within your car's electrical system. Regularly replacing car batteries until your car dies is not an option and can cost thousands of dollars. A tyre shop often offers batteries for sale but also gives you the opportunity to test the battery and find out what is going wrong. Once a problem is located it can be fixed and you will stop going through batteries faster than you do tyres.

Steering Diagnosis Or Repairs

Power steering was one of the great modern inventions when it comes to cars but it also means there is another way that they can possibly fail during use. You know your car's steering better than anyone else because you use it the most so if you feel something in the steering feeling janky then don't ignore it. Problems with a car's steering are not to be taken lightly and they can put you on a short course towards an accident. Many tyre shops offer diagnosis of steering wheels or their repair but you should double-check to see if your local branch does.
